In addition to her work at the University, Anne serves as the (part-time) director of NCTE’s Squire Office of Policy Research. This position keeps her informed about the latest developments in assessment, particularly high-stakes writing tests. A former chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, she is a nationally recognized expert on writing instruction. The founding director of the Puget Sound Writing Project, Anne currently serves as an associate of the Oakland Writing Project and regularly collaborates with NWP teachers. “I’ve learned most of what I know about writing from my work with NWP,” she says. “I also learned a great deal from talking with teachers when I served as president of NCTE.” Anne has published ten books, including Roots in the Sawdust: Writing to Learn across the Disciplines (NCTE, 1985), Making American Literatures (NCTE, 2001) and Writing on Demand (Heinemann, 2005). She has also published over 100 articles, many of which deal with the teaching of writing. Visit Anne's website at http://www-personal.umich.edu/~argere/. | ||||||||
